Workshop Terreiro Lírico

The Terreiro Lírico Music Workshop is a space dedicated to learning and practicing Afro-Brazilian music, led by Miguel Baraka (vocals) and Diego Calasso (percussion). The workshop integrates traditional rhythms and melodies into a collective experience, aiming to preserve and promote this rich musical heritage by exploring the relationship between percussion and singing as forms of cultural expression.

Offered in various formats, the workshop can be conducted as short-term sessions, continuous modules, or an extensive course that may lead to the formation of a professional musical group. The structure of the classes includes three main stages:Percussion: Introduction to traditional rhythms such as ijexá, maracatu, and samba-reggae.Singing: Vocal techniques and ancestral repertoire.Integration: Joint practice of singing and percussion.

Open to all ages and skill levels, the workshop is designed for musicians, educators, teaching artists, capoeira practitioners, and anyone interested in Afro-Brazilian music. The repertoire includes Afro-Brazilian, Indigenous, popular, and children’s songs, as well as music of resistance and celebration of folk culture. To host the workshop, an appropriate space is required, and the instruments can be provided by either the team or the organizer.
